Nacho Night/Family Night! Derek and I made a dinner of vegan nachos featuring my original beaze sauce (it's white beans blended up with cilantro and peppers to mock queso in a very healthy way), fresh homemade guac, black beans, corn, chopped bell peppers, onion, and fresh baked chips from Nuevo Léon, the famous Mexican restaurant that is located right in our neighborhood! Guests included Mike from Tracer Bullet, the newly-engaged Josh and Jessie, and of course, roomies/relatives Erika and Rachael.
Derek and Mike are caught by surprise at my quick camera, but really I am posting this because it is the only picture I have of my beautiful 1973 Schwinn Le Tour that I have lovingly named Mr. Kite.
Brett and Kyle, some of my old friends from Montevallo, scale the graffiti-covered rooftop to Brett's apartment building in Brooklyn while Katt watches from a safter standpoint.
Derek on the beach in New Buffalo, Michigan. We were going to bike from Chicago, but we ended up having to drive to the Michigan border because of the weather. We did bike around Lake Michigan quite a bit that day. We had amazing ice cream and had some film developed in New Buffalo. It was a nice town.
On the rocky coast of Lake Michigan. Yes, we do have the same sunglasses, and yes, people do point that out all the time.
I made a tofu quiche with asparagus, onion, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes in it. It took us two days to eat.
That's it for the pictures. In other news, I quit my job after a 3-day training stint at Ristorante al Teatro. It was a bad energy place and the owner talked down to me a lot. He was horrible at communicating and I just didn't feel like spending my summer dreading going into work. I can babysit and maybe walk dogs. I am also wanting to run a 5K on June 28th at the Taste of Chicago fair. It costs $30 to run it, but that is a charity donation and it also gets me a month long membership to Bally Total Fitness. I'd love that! I'm going to try to get a job working booths at the summer festivals here in Chicago because they are always hiring and it is 3 or 4 intense days at a time that will pay me several hundred dollars and I could eat free for the whole time. Sounds good to me!
Well I'm going to do other things now.
